Attending to the Neglected

I haven't updated this thing in a while, and I'm sorry. But not too sorry, b/c I don't think anyone is out there reading this anyways. Oh well. The majority of words written in the world are seldom read. (Though I do find it interesting that so many of my friends that are so frickin' ADD gripe about how much reading sucks, and yet spend a lot of time on the internet....reading. hmm.)

The last part of the semester, post-Thanksgiving, was rough--but it always is. And I got good grades, so I have no room to complain. I've been spending the break working at Borders w/ Melissa (Mike works there too, but his shifts are usually in the evening and ours are in the day), and it's been pretty fun. The people that work there are great, and my job is inventory, so I not only get to work w/ books all day but also get to do a bit of manual labor. An ideal job. So yes. That is that.

I'm reading "The Know-it-All," a book about a guy who read through the entire Encyclopaedia Brittanica. On Christmas Eve I read a book I've been waiting to come out in the US for over a year called "Home Land" by Sam Lipsyte If you like Palahniuk, go out and buy it. In some ways it's even better than Palahniuk, though that may be blasphemy to some. He has a certain descriptive quality that Palahniuk doesn't; where Palahniuk's prose is jagged and pointed, leading you to the bleak, Lipsyte has the quality of something that reminds me of the narrative of "The Winter of Our Discontent" for some reason...it's late and my mind isn't sharp enough to complete this thought.

I'll try to be better about updating this, but everything is contingent upon a thousand other things seen and unseen. Farewell for now.
